Eligo Shiraz
Wine
John Duval Wines Eligo Shiraz is the flagship wine. The name Eligo comes from the Latin meaning 'to pick out, select or choose the best'. It is an elegant expression of Barossa Shiraz.
John Duval's time as Penfolds chief winemaker in the 1990s influences his fruit selection. Premium parcels are meticulously selected from low yielding Barossa and Eden Valley vineyards.
The fruit ferments with a submerged cap in small stainless steel fermenters. Select batches see extended maceration on skins. The wine ages for 18 months in mostly new fine grained French oak hogsheads.
Deep red purple, John Duval Wines Eligo Shiraz displays restrained power, rich texture and persistent length.
Released only in outstanding years. Cellaring potential is 20 years.
